The school now has enough systems for almost two grades to use this type of technology simultaneously, as reported by Mr. Sam Bidleman, the 7th grade teacher at St. Columba School in Bloomsburg, PA.
This is quite an improvement as previously there were only three desktop computers in each classroom - that was it! And even now, with those same three desktop units, every student in any two grades can work on an internet connection at the same time.
The other three desktops in other classrooms are still available for use as needed.
This is a big deal because the school has students who do not have consistent internet access at home. In grades 7 and 8, the teacher has flipped writing assignments to be done during class time and reading will be completed as homework to accommodate this opportunity in the school.
Research with EBSCO (Bloomsburg Public Library shared access) and content-appropriate apps for the laptops are keeping up with the demands of the curriculum. Just amazing!
